About Lisa
I have been teaching violin lessons for 22 years and I have recently added viola and cello lessons as well. I learned to play violin in the public schools and I have been playing in various symphonies for over 30 years. I have a deep passion for music and the expression that music allows any person to express no matter what their skill level.
I love teaching music to people of all ages. It is such a joy to watch students go from starting out on an instrument and learning to play their first song. I love being a part of their musical growth and seeing them develop their own sense of how their music should be played.
My own violin teacher took me under her wing and encouraged me to start teaching violin lessons. I love my job!
I have been playing in various symphonies for over 30 years and I have attended several music classes like music theory, music appreciation and fiddle method workshops.

About the lesson

Each student will learn how to read music in the classic way. You will learn scales, etudes and perform a variety of music in recitals. Each student will progress at their own level and each student is required to practice. I aim to make each lesson fun and relaxed.
I have worked with all ages from as young as 6 years old to 84 years old.
My advice to anyone wanting to take music lessons is to know what you want to learn from your lessons. Look for teachers who teach what you want to learn. An example is learning to read music. You probably would not want a Suzuki method teacher. They will teach you to play first and not necessarily focus on reading music. Not every teacher is a good fit for every student.
I am particularly fond of each spring recital. It is exciting to see the musical growth in each student from year to year.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Good question! I think every student should think about their commitment to learn the instrument. It takes awhile to learn to play and sound good, too. Also, think about the time you have available to practice. The only way to get better at playing your instrument is to PRACTICE!

Each of my lessons are $20 for a half hour lesson. I recommend weekly lessons for progress and consistency.
