About Brittany
I have been teaching private lessons for over seventeen years. My goal for each student is to find the learning path that will work best for them, whether they want to just have fun learning and making music fro themselves or want to work towards an advanced college level. I have experience in teaching students from as young as four to over seventy years old, and am happy to teach at any level, from complete beginner up through music major college preparation.
I use a variety of traditional teaching styles and am also certified in the Suzuki Method. I have a masters degree in performance and have played professionally with Erie Chamber Orchestra, The Cimerron Opera Company, Warren Philharmonic, and The Western Reserve Opera Company.
My passion for teaching violin and viola is to help students enjoy their music experience and to provide a skill set that they can use for creative communication and expression. I am enthusiastic about developing a positive relationship with my students and seeing them discover the ways they want to use music in their lives. It is a joy to be part of a student’s journey, to see their technical and artistic progress, and to help them discover their own joy and confidence in playing these beautiful and versatile instruments!

Typically I like to offer a trial lesson so the student and I can meet and learn a bit about each other and so I can hear what they would like to get out of lessons and what, if any, music training they have had previously. For new beginners, we will spend the first few lessons learning to tune and care for the instrument, establish weather they will have a parent helping them, and make sure they have access to a local professional they can go to if the instrument needs any maintenance such as a bow re-hair or new strings

i absolutely loved working with brittany! she is not only a fabulous violin teacher! But she is a lovely, caring kind person who cares about her students in regards to not only their violin improvement, but about how they are doing in their life! I have been playing violin for about 8 years, about 3 years with Brittany, I can say I have definitely seen improvement in my playing, especially with my technique! Our lessons were always productive! Including during our time online! She also playing a major part in helping me learn music theory, took the time to help me figure out difficult orchestra music, and helping me prepare for my college auditions! I can honestly say I feel very prepared for YSU, Dana school of music, as a violin minor, and that is all thanks to Brittney! Highly recommend Chautauqua Violin and Viola studios:)
