About Lucia
Lucia is a dynamic, intuitive, and creative teacher and mentor. She listens and teaches to the interests of her students, helping to ignite their own passion for music! Included with private lessons, there is a regular free group class where students get to perform for each other and arrange songs together. Lucia has been teaching for 10+ years both in public schools, and in private homes. She has an undergraduate degree in Violin Performance from the Lamont School of Music and is certified to teach the Suzuki method. Kids as young as 5 can start, and any adult can learn - it's never too late!

A violinist of many styles, Lucia has won national competitions in Irish music and received numerous grants to study music from the Middle East, the Balkans, Ghana, Thailand and Argentina. In 2019 she won the prestigious Fulbright Scholar award in order to study Hindustani classical music and Baul folk music in West Bengal, India. Any of these styles you can learn too! Lucia is a multi-instrumentalist: violin, banjo, oud, dotara, khamok, and guitar. Please inquire with interests in learning any of these instruments!

That she offers Zoom lessons which is very convenient. I also like that Lucia has customized the lessons for Lilia to get her performing specific songs with our family group. Lilia likes that she patient and teaches he pace.

Lucia is an extraordinary teacher but also a wonderful practicing musician with a vast knowledge of world musical traditions and an irresistible passion for music. I feel that for continuously motivating my daughter's hard work throughout these years, and for advancing her musicianship, seeing Lucia's own amazing performances has been a factor as important as Lucia's diligence and skillfulness in musical pedagogy.
The violin is a demanding instrument to learn but Lucia makes sure it never feels intimidating. She is a nimble, flexible, highly present and attuned person and her general effect on my daughter has been, beyond any doubt, inspiring.
