About Erin
I will help you take your playing to the next level! Whether that means advancing past Twinkle or preparing for orchestral auditions, I know what makes a player strong, confident, and consistently able to perform—even under pressure. That's because I've taken that journey myself! I have a master's degree from one of the top music schools in the USA, and I've been performing professionally for more than 10 years, with ensembles such as the Milwaukee and Chicago Symphonies, and collaborating with artists such as Yo-Yo Ma. I know what it takes to play an instrument well, and I can help you get there!
Music is magical. It allows you to connect with people on a very special level that's impossible any other way—whether in the audience or on stage with you. It adds an extra, special layer of possibility to the world.
I have a Bachelor of Music in Viola Performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) and a Master of Music in Viola Performance from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. At IU, I minored in violin history and repair, and for a year after graduating, I worked at Bein & Fushi, a major high-end instrument dealer in Chicago. But I knew I couldn't go without performing, so I left when I won the Citizen Musician Fellowship at the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. Through that program, I worked in youth prisons, with teen parents, at after-school music programs on the South and West sides, with advanced youth orchestras, and dozens of classes of elementary schoolers. And I performed, A LOT. Since then, I've been taking (and winning) auditions, living the life of a freelance musician and loving every minute of it!
