About Evan
I'm a personal swim coach with over 10 years of experience with swimmers of all ages and ability levels. I'm able to teach everything from basic skills and comfortability in the water to high level racing techniques.
I am currently head coach of the NVSL swim team at The Langley Club. I am also an age group coach at Machine Aquatics as well as a swim instructor at the Machine Swim School.
I know that learning how to swim or pefecting a new technique can be daunting and I understand that not all swimmers achieve success in the exact same way. I'm able to work with swimmers in ways that fit their learning style.
I'm confident working with groups of siblings. Their lessons can be done at the same time or back to back. I look forward to being able to work with your swimmer or swimmers. For more information please check out my signup page.

I was a competitve swimmer on a local swim teach and during my final year I was asked to be an assistant coach. I was hired full time the next season and also was hired as a private swim instructor for beginners at Norfolk Yacht and Country Club.
I have over 10 years of coaching and training experience on top of over 10 years of competitive swimming experience. I've given private lessons to swimmers of all ages and ability levels.

My process will depend on the student's ability level. If they are a complete beginner then the first step is to allow them to get comfortable with the water and with me. We will then begin with kicking and work out way up to freestyle. Also begin working on floating on the back and finally up to full backstroke. After the swimmer has shown they are comfortable and ready to progress I would have them move onto the basics of breaststroke and butterfly while refining the smaller techniques of freestyle and backstroke.
If the student has command of the four basic strokes and is looking to refine racing technique I would first have them demonstrate their current stroke. I would find what could be improved and run them through numerous drills that would help to refine and improve the technique.
I've worked with students of all ages and ability levels.
Make sure you are comfortable with both your teacher and with the pool you will be learning in. Being comfortable and relaxed is half the battle.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Understand what you are looking for and don't be afraid to ask for clarification or to have something repeated in a different way.
Be aware that learning a new skill will take time and repeated efforts. If you need to take more time to learn a basic skill don't be afraid to make that known.
