About Jacob
I've been skateboarding for over 40 years and have enjoyed coaching and mentoring children to develop a lifelong love for sports and sportsmanship.
The best part about working with children or even adults is seeing them reach their goal and milestones. I am friendly but I give enough of a push to help my clients achieve what they want to learn.
My son started showing interest in different sports and the rest is history.

First rule of skateboarding is to teach students how to fall correctly! Because guess what? You are going to FALL. It's inevitable. Next steps are to teach safety, being aware of different surfaces and being aware of potholes, holes and rocks. Also I like to recommend different boards and proper shoes for skateboarding.
Next is rolling and gliding and kicking comfortably. From there if the student is up for it, skateboarding on ramps, doing wheelies and tricks.
All different types of students of different ethnicities and skills. From timid kids that don't yet know their strengths to extroverted and confident students that need a little polishing.
Pick someone you get along with, someone fun and professional and with good communication. Also make sure you pick someone you are learning from at every lesson, no matter how boring it is. As long as you are having fun and improving everyday, that's all that matters.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Let the teacher know what things you would like to learn, things you are scared of to learn but are curious about. What the steps are to getting better and what your ultimate goal in the sport is. Also, don't be afraid to ask any question at all, no question is a bad one.

Perfect! My 5 yo son and I have been working with Jacob for a few months. We've had a great time and have been steadily progressing (neither of us had any skateboarding experience). Jacob is very patient and fun to work with. It's like skating with a knowledgeable friend who guides and pushes your comfort just enough to continue progressing.
