Someone with a heart as big as his level of music expertise, I had the extraordinary privilege to have been mentored by such an astounding educator. In 4th grade, I was a mediocre and forgettable trumpet player, but Timothy Rausenberger saw something in me--a passion, a drive--and took a chance with me. I started doing private trumpet lessons after school, and I transformed from a mediocre player into First Chair for the New Jersey Senior Region 1 Wind Ensemble. He would go above and beyond for me--purchasing all lesson books, helping me purchase a professional trumpet, and being available at all hours in order to prepare me for an audition or to give me results. In addition to helping transform my trumpet playing, he served as a mentor and advisor in other aspects of life, cultivating my creativity, leadership, and discipline skills. Before Timothy, I have never had a teacher whose sole aspiration in life is to enrich students with confidence, knowledge, and lifelong memories--and I do not think I ever will.

Working with Mr. R has always been a pleasure. He is a talented educator who made learning instruments a joy. I’m particularly grateful, as he convinced me to stay in band past 8th grade, which would eventually lead to my marching band career that follows me thru to today. From early days in Mahwah, to the football fields of the storied Midwest teams, to one of the only two NFL marching bands, Mr. R’s teaching has helped make me what I am.
