About Bengisu
Hi!
I'm Bengisu ONAL. I'm 25 years old and originally from Turkey with a French background. I graduated from Berklee College of Music (vocal performance and music business & management majors , musical theatre writing minor) and currently working at the South Shore Conservatory.
I've been performing jazz, R&B, pop, rock repertoire for more than 10 years and since my last year at Berklee I've been sharing my expertise with my students. I enjoy sharing this beautiful gift with music lovers!!!
I'm helping creating repertoires for my students who are willing to add music to their life as hobby or who are willing to become professionals (audition preparation, concert preparation, recording session informations).
As a vocal coach, I like creating my education path separately for each student of mine. I have students from age 5 to 64. Some of my students are doctors, some are retired, some are students.

I get to know lots of people who are passionate about music! We don't share the same profession or culture or social life but we share the universal language of the entire world: Music!
Only this fact is enough for me to get excited about my work. When ever they ask me how do I feel about my job, all I say is, I don't even feel like I am working... My passion, thing that puts the biggest smile to my face is my job! Which is a blessing...
I graduated from Berklee College of Music, which is the worlds number 1 contemporary music school.
I have dual dgree in vocal performance and music business & management. I also have a minor at musical theatre writing.

About the lesson

during our first meeting, I ask questions to my students about their life and the importance, impact of music to their life and, most importantly, I want them to ask me lots of questions and start getting to know me. I do a little voice exercise to know their range and to figure out the main points that we should focus while working. After the first lesson, I send them few questions (3 to 5) and ask them to answer those questions (some suggestions to their repertoire, some questions about their connection to music or what their goal is etc.)
After our 2nd lesson and when we get to know each other in a better way, things start to come together more easily.
I don't just focus on the performance side of singing. I generally give my students information about the human anatomy, how does the vocal chords work, the importance of posture, breathing techniques, some meditative exercies etc.
I have students from ages 5 to 57!

I've been working with Bengisu for 6 months, she is making the lessons very fun and very relaxed. Her apartment is amazing and filled with music. We were having lessons once a week but since January I wanted to have 2 lessons per week so she arranged her schedule according to that. She is very well prepared and organized. She sends all of the recordings of our lessons to me right after the lesson. She offers me some song options but I am the one who makes the final decision and I sing what ever I want to sing. My repertoire is becoming larger! I started these lessons as hobby but now she is even pushing me to have a performance!
