Hello! My name is Zak Palmer and I am offering voice lessons as a trained vocalist. I have a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point in vocal performance as well as a Master's degree from the University of South Dakota in vocal performance and pedagogy. I have performed in 4 operas during my time in college and 1 opera in Italy in the summer of 2024. I have 2 years of experience teaching voice lessons to many different voice types, and my goal is to help young singers develop the proper foundation of technique to sing in whichever genre they please.
I describe myself as a voice teacher instead of a vocal coach because my philosophy is that the student and myself are on an equal playing field, working together to better their voice. No prior musical experience is required, I have taught students who had not read sheet music before or have had any experience singing. Everyone has the ability to sing and we are all on our own paths. Music is such a beautiful thing and people from all backgrounds should feel like they can give it a try. I attempt to explain everything in the most understandable way so that you feel like you learn something after every single lesson. The student will find that certain things will improve right away, while other things may take a while to change/develop. I try to keep the lessons fun, lighthearted, and varied so that no lesson is the same and to also prevent the lessons from being boring and repetitive.
I am offering online music lessons for anyone, as well as in person voice lessons only in the Central Wisconsin area. For in person voice lessons I am only able to come to you to teach them if you have a piano. Otherwise, I should have an office soon.
Please feel free to contact me at any time with any questions or inquiries.

I’ve really enjoyed taking voice lessons with Zak! He’s super easy to work with and makes lessons fun while still helping me improve a lot. He gives really helpful feedback and explains things in a way that actually makes sense. I’ve already noticed a difference in my singing since I started taking lessons and I’d definitely recommend Zak to anyone looking to improve their voice!
I appreciated his kindness and clear explainations. Always postive and encouraging!
Zak really knew how to fix something I was doing incorrect with my voice. He was reassuring and always let me know when something was good.
He was amazing! He really helped me become the best performer I could be and showed me that singing high is well within my range. If you’re looking for voice lessons I very much recommend! He is so nice and so very flexible. Over all 10/10 experience!
He was a great instructor for me, very patient. I also really appreciate that he always used simple language to help me understand complex musical concepts.
"I studied with Zak for voice lessons while at USD and loved it! He is a great coach and helped me improve in so many areas. Though I find it intimidating to sing in front of others, Zak is very personable and made singing very comfortable. He has so much knowledge on singing and knows how to coach. Zak is great!"
