About Jeff
Everything is customized to the individual or group. Age, athleticism, and more factor into how any person moves, so why should that not also be taken into account related to teaching them how to defend themselves?
Young and old alike can learn, physical fit or unfit alike can learn, but it takes a customized approach that isn't about belts, rank, or tournaments, but about what will work for *that individual* on the street where they are the most vulnerable. There is a place for art and sport, but the street is an entirely different arena.
As someone who has taught self-defense for 30+ years, taught at the university level, and been interviewed countless times on various news affiliates (FOX, ABC, CBS, NBC, and CW) regarding pesonal safety and defense issues, I know how to address such concerns.

About the lesson

First is an interview, for you *and* for me as I want to make sure we are on the same page regarding expectations, time frame, and commitment. I never ask for long-term commitments, but do "ask" for a 2-3 month basic commitment, though if the fit is not there, certainly the client is welcome to change their direction.
Once we have established interest and timetable, we begin and go for 2-3 months to then assess again if there is a need to continue or the student has received the instruction they were looking for.
Additionally if the student wishes to recruit friends, family, neighbors, co-workers to join in and split the costs, we can discuss that as well and I am absolutely open to such arrangements.
