About Lauren

I have had a passion for working with students in the classroom since 2005. Since completing my dual Master’s degree in regular education and special education I have been engaged exclusively in the practice of teaching students with learning challenges, especially in the area of reading.

I am trained in Lindamood Phoneme Sequencing Program for reading, Spelling and Speech, as well as, the Barton Reading Program. In addition, the Louisa Moats LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) professional development program that provides teachers with the skills they need to master the fundamentals of reading instruction—phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, writing, and language.

I have extensive experience dealing with a full range of learners, among them: Autism Spectrum Disorder, Specific Learning Disabilities-Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia, Executive Functioning deficits, ADHD, Down Syndrome and Speech Language Impairments.

My focus includes creating, differentiating and using evidence-based curriculum for meeting her students present levels and building on their knowledge using practices suited to their interests, skills and abilities. I am a firm believe that our brain works on success and faster is not always better!

I work with students using Empowerment Scholarship Account Program (ESA), as well as, private pay clients.

I enjoy the creativity of the learning process! There are many ways and modalities to learn.

I always knew I wanted to be a teacher! I started as a Teacher's Assistant in a self-contained special education classroom 15 years ago!

I have a Master of Science in Childhood Education/Special Education and a Bachelor of Arts in Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences.

I am trained in Lindamood-Bell phoneme sequencing program (LIPS) an have experience using a variety of programs such as Barton Reading Program and LETRS.

About the lesson

Finding the strengths and interest of a student is always my first step to building a rapport!

I have worked with all types of learners. I have taught students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, Autism, ADHD, executive functioning challenges, and Down Syndrome.

Will it be hard work? yes. But remember, never to give up and let's work together to help overcome the challenges!
