About Aubrey
I have worked in schools for over 5 years and have taught students a wide variety of subjects. I have worked in all Elementary grade levels and taught 5th grade for one year before persuing my Master's degree. I have a Master's Degree in Reading and have attended Orton-Gillingham training. When teaching reading, I focus on a base understanding of language to build confidence. When teaching math and science, I use models and real-life examples to make concepts more personal to build understanding.
I love working with students and enjoy helping students find the joy I have for learning. My favorite moments in teaching are the "ah ha" moments where the child can make the connections needed to understand what they have been working on.
I have a Bachelor's of Science in Elementary Education and Language Arts. I recently graduated with a Education Master in Reading. I will be applying for my license as a Reading Specialist. I have also attended an intensive Orton-Gillingham training.

I spend the first meeting with a new student getting to know their interests and finding out what they struggle with. I want to make sure they are comfortable with me because learning cannot occur if the student doesn't feel safe to make mistakes.
In schools, I have worked with students with a wide range of learning abilities including students with ADHD, cerebral palsy, dislexia and other developmental disorders. I was also a one-on-one aide for a student with autism.
