About Nathan
A dedicated instructor and educator, Mr. Ryland has many years of experience teaching students of all ages, from young beginners to collegiate level students at Indiana University and the University of North Texas. Mr. Ryland encourages his students to regularly participate in festivals and competitions around the DFW Metroplex. Since one of the most important aspects of music is sharing it with others, performance is a critical element of music education, and students are expected to participate in studio recitals and other events. Mr. Ryland highly recommends the Royal Conservatory of Music Examination program for developing a broad grasp of musicianship. Students also participate annually in the Texas State Theory Test.

Learning to master the skill of playing music can be a highly gratifying experience. Music is an integral part of a child’s development which contributes greatly to their mental and emotional growth, and also aids in the development of physical coordination. A child who listens to and participates in music will develop a deeper appreciation of the beauty in the world around them in addition to learning problem-solving, perseverance, communication strategies, and the ability to follow detailed instructions. In addition to piano playing, students will be introduced to fundamental concepts of music theory.
It is the teacher’s responsibility to enable musical development through engaging and careful instruction. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure musical development through dedicated practice and preparation, and a willingness to learn. It is the parent’s responsibility to ensure regular practice and careful attention to assignments.
