About Phoebe
I was homeschooled all the way through high school and have a BA in Philosophy and Classics from the Great Books college, St. John's in Santa Fe, NM. I believe that the intellect can do much more than you'd ever imagine. Good reading and a helping hand can go a long way too. Let's get you moving together!
I love helping people. We should all feel inspired to learn, and it's less difficult than you think it is to excel at what you apply yourself to. Seeing happy students (of any age and in any subject) is my biggest reward because I know that the joy they experience through learning is longlived.
I love teaching. I'm the second oldest of seven kids and we were all home schooled. This meant that I was helping my siblings with their home work from the time I could read and do basic math!
I also interned as a costumer when I was 11 and by my early teenage years I was costuming the summer camps alone and teaching all the younger summer costume interns basic sewing and costuming techniques.
Besides this, I've tutored for a year at an elementary school adjacent to my college. I'be also taught basic farming skills at an agriculture camp for teenagers and been councilor at several Shakespeare camps during summers in my home state of Vermont.
I have 12 years experience going to tutors myself. I was home schooled all the way from 1st through 12th, and have had many one-on-one classes. I have a BA in Philosphy and Classics from the Great Books College, St. John's in Santa Fe, NM. I also have a double minor in history of mathematics and science as well as English. I tutored students at a local elementary school my senior year of college focusing in 2nd, 4th, and 6th grade.

Listening is my first priority. I want to hear what the student wants out of the process we embark on together.
My second priority is coming up with a customized trajectory for our path together--one that will bring the most academic success to my student, both in the long and short term.
Then? It's time to get rolling with check-ins, assignment, and more!
All kinds! The excited and the reluctanat, those who enjoy typical classroom settings and those who lean toward experiential education, and lots of unique people in between.
There are so many options out there, but you can stop looking now :) We'll look at what you want to conquer together and we'll get there. My job is to inspire you and get you feeling confident about navigating academics and exercising your intellect. I'll work my hardest to accomplish this.
