About Madhukanta
Music was one of my passions since I was 5. I am offering classes in Indian light classical music either online or at my home in Clifton, NJ. As singing is like my second nature, I would relish teaching it to whoever is interested in learning from me. Do give it a try!
I volunteered as an assistant to a Teaching Artist in Guggenheim Museum. This got me started.
I earned a Masters in Fine Art from Montclair State University. Recently, I have started teaching art. I am working as an assistant to a Teaching Artist in Guggenheim Museum. I am working towards a certificate on Museum Education offered by Guggenheim Museum, New York.

My lessons would be geared towards teaching the basics and going on from there to help them master abstraction. I would design individual lesson plans for each student and focus on teaching the basics and going on to making advancements. I would typically design one hour classes and teach in the specific way my student wants to learn.
The students I am working with currently are aged 8-12.
The student should review the work of the teaching artist and see whether they like his or her style and skill set.
I exhibited some of my recent paintings at an art show organized for senior citizens in Livingston New Jersey. I felt good to be able to provide joy to the aged with my splash of bright colors.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
The student should decide what and how to progress in learning art. The student should note down the questions to ask the teacher regarding the areas to focus on and let the teacher design a way that would match the needs.

She is easy going but vigilant. She allows me freedom within her context. The lessons are easy, fun, peaceful and I am enjoying it very much!
Madhu is a very sweet, caring and knowledgeable teacher. She encourages her students and makes them feel very good about creating art. And I love that she put music on while we painted.
Ms. Madhu is a very talented art teacher and is very patient with kids. She helped Anika to delve deep into colors and have been constantly encouraging her. She guides Anika to explore her own interest by letting her try crayons, water colors and color pencils. I would definitely recommend taking an art class from Ms. Madhu
Very fun, passionate teacher and classes. Each lesson was a different technique. I really enjoyed learning with Madhu.

To Whom it May Concern,
I am writing this letter of recommendation for Madhukanta Sen to be your next tutor. Madhu was a volunteer
with me for the Guggenheim’s Learning Through Art residency program. I found her to be a pleasure to work
with as well as a positive force in the classroom. She is extremely organized and very dedicated to her work.
Madhu was able to develop a rapport with students through art making. I also found her to be helpful at
preparing art supplies for lessons. I found her dedication to be invaluable throughout the residency. Madhu
also worked with other members of the Guggenheim’s faculty to learn about museum pedagogy.
I would strongly recommend her as your next tutor. If you have any questions or need more information,
please feel free to email me at Bonfield.s@gmail.com.
Sincerely Yours,
Sharela M. Bonfield
