I enjoy watching the student learn to make jewelry. I see their enthusiasum go to work processing and thinking about what they are going to make. Then, that creative process begins in them as the student picks the first bead to plan their piece. Then, the actual journey begins as their jewelry piece comes to live and they see it for themselves. I personally know that feeling.
I got started teaching by teaching my own children and their friend basic jewelry making. Then, I starting teaching jewelry design at community fairs. Now, I am part of craft design team, who teaches student online how to use polymer clay to create create craft projects.

I take my time to show the student that jewelry making is about having fun while learning to make something wonderful. I go over the project in detail. Show the materials and tools that will be used in the project. Talk about the safety of handling the tools and materials. Demomstrate each step of the process in the project. Also, allow the student/students ask questions as needed to ensure understanding the use of the materials, tools and the project itself.
I have worked worked teens starting at age 13. Also, I teach mature aged adults, who have a desire to learn a new skill or just want to know how make beautiful basic jewelry.
Ask a lot of questions. Make sure that the person is knowledgeable to teach them what they want to learn. Check out their credientals. Don't just take the person's word about what they can do. Make sure that you feel comfortable with the instructor.

- The student should think about what it is they really wants to learn.
- Why the student is taking the class.
- What does the student hope to get out of the class.
- What does student want the class to do for them.
