About Wendy
Most of my students say that I make math and chemistry fun.
I received my Ph. D. in Chemistry in 2004 from UMBC. I taught chemistry at the college level for 10 years, until I made the switch to teach Middle School Math at Arnold Christian Academy. I taught all levels of math from Grade 2 - Algebra for 8 years. Currently, I teach Chemistry at Archbishop Spalding High School.
I made extra money in college by tutoring. I really liked it, and my students told me I was good at it!
I have a Ph.D. in Chemistry. I taught college-level General Chemistry for 10 years.
I have taught middle school math (through Algebra 1) for 7 years.
I have taught high school chemistry for 1 year.
I tutored math and Chemistry often while in both college and graduate school.

First, I will take a quick inventory to see what you know and where your weaknesses are. The inventory is just a few questions (5 or so). This helps me know where to start to best help you!
I worked with all types of students, from college to 2nd grade. My students range from gifted to truly needy! Not everyone loves math and science, and I completely understand that!! But you can still get As and Bs even if you don't like it. Not only do I go over concepts, I work on test-taking strategies and problem solving techniques. You know those scary word problems???? I will help you break it down in to a couple of easy steps.
Find someone that you "click" with. I know that's hard to tell from a website. But your first meeting with a new tutor shouldn't just be about the subject your learning. You and your tutor should take a few minutes to get to know each other. You should never be afraid to ask questions. After a session or two, if you don't like their teaching style, it might be time to find someone else. Remember, you're the customer, and you should be happy with the tutoring service.

She does not read from the book, but explains it to the students, so they can grasp the concept and use it on the problems.Math is not my daughter’s strongest subject. She had convinced herself that she did not like math until Dr. Olson came along! She taught my daughter to think outside the box, everyone learns differently. What may work for one student may not work for another. My daughter has a new confidence with math because of Dr. Olson. I highly recommend.
