My younger sister was preparing for the entrance exam for Harvard Westlake and I had just gotten into Carnegie Mellon University so I had a lot of free time on my hands to focus on preparing my sister for the upper level ISEE exam. After succesfully bringing her scores up to the range of 7-9 I realized my passion in mentoring and tutoring younger kids and reached out to neighbors, friends, etc. and slowly started to teach other kids too!
I've tutored and mentored kids ages 8-16 in subject areas including english, math, reading and science for the last year. I specialize in providing test preparation for ACT, having gotten a 35 on the ACT myself, and ISEE primary-upper levels.

I've worked with students ages 8-16 and have encountered many students with different learning methods and had to adjust my teaching methods to the students' learning style to help kids improve as much as they can!
My best advice would be for the student to make sure that the teacher they're hiring is able to adapt to whatever learning style they have.
The most enjoyable part of tutoring kids in general is being able to believe in the student's ability to improve, executing my teaching method to assist them to bettering themselves, and seeing that lightbulb go off in their head when they understand and gain confidence in their skills and see themselves improving!

Perfect! Anita has been amazing so far and I'm very pleased how well she has connected with my 17 year old son. He was lost at first with his Algebra 2 studies, however with Anita guidance he has caught on extremely well. Anita has also helped him lay out a college plan and is prepping him to take his SAT/ACT. Thank goodness for Miss Anita!
I was looking for a tutor last summer to help me during the pandemic in teaching my fourth grader a full year’s curriculum since we had decided to homeschool for the first time.
Miss Anita took on the task of meeting with my 9 year old for one hour a week from September until the end of April (30 weeks).
I chose an online curriculum, which required an initial placement test to determine where my daughter would place. Once that was established, Miss Anita took it from there. She took the time to learn the platform, teach the new concepts, go over any missed problems, and administer quizzes.
She also worked well with my daughter. Before starting our journey, she met over zoom with her to get to know her better and make the new experience more seamless.
Once they started their weekly lessons, Miss Anita explained new concepts in a calm, easy to understand manner. When my daughter did struggle, she stayed calm and motivating.
I also appreciated her easy communication with me. Miss Anita was always open to my suggestions when it came to focusing on concepts I thought my daughter needed more time on and I also welcomed her advice as to what she thought my daughter needed.
In the end, my daughter was able to complete curriculum one year ahead of her grade due to Miss Anita’s guidance.
All in all, I would highly recommend Miss Anita to tutor in math. We will be retuning to on campus this fall, but should my daughter need extra help in math, I’m relieved to know Miss Anita is a fantastic source to go to!She prepared me for the ISEE upper level entrance exam for high school and although I started off between the 4-6 range, I managed to get my scores up to a 7-9 in just 2 months with her help! Her way of teaching is very thorough and you could tell she genuinely pays attention to her students' progress and changes her way of teaching so it works best with me. Overall I was very happy with the results I got and the hard work I put in with her help really paid off.
