About Teresa
Focused on creating individualized study plans catered to each student, respectively. Sessions are designed and centered around accessibility and meeting the student's accommodations while improving comprehension and retention of course material.
Watching my students develop greater self-efficacy and a genuine interest in learning is one of the most rewarding experiences for an educator.
I became highly motivated to teach when the teachers and professors in my life were able to help me actually enjoy learning and see steady improvements along the way. These individuals have also encouraged me to commit to my own self-growth, intellectually.
I have privately tutored for a total of 3 years, and some of the students I have worked with have disabilities, allowing me to get a better understanding of how each student has their own way of learning. I studied disability at NYU and Cornell, which has allowed me to gain a perspective that sees cognitive and physical differences as enriching, valuable, and a powerhouse for creativity. I attended academic institutions that have challenged me in terms of academic rigor, resilience, and adaptability.

First, if there are any disability accommodations I should be aware of, they will be discussed at the first meeting. Next, we would go into just getting to know the student and what method of learning works best for them. Then, we would move onto scheduling lessons and creating a lesson plan that takes into account the specific student's needs to flourish academically.
I have worked with students with ADHD, depression, and anxiety. Mental health is an important aspect of student life and work ethic.
I would say to find the teachers who will be attentive to you as an individual. This allows them to help you learn the course material more efficiently and effectively. Communicating what you need and staying open-minded is important!
I recently watched Paprika and found the film's visuals incredibly vibrant and imaginative.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Do you learn better when you are lectured to, when there is more back-and-forth conversation and dialogue about a topic or concept, through metaphors/analogies, through videos, through reading, or through action/demonstration?
Which of the following methods listed above leads you to both comprehend and retain the information you are studying?
Do you prefer to separate work into smaller chunks and work consistently on the smaller pieces with small breaks in between? OR Do you prefer to do a lot of work at once without breaks and meet less frequently?
What is my work ethic like? What areas need improvement (i.e., time management, disciplined consistent work ethic, organization, sustained focus, managing anxiety or stress, winding down and resting, etc.)?
