About Ethan
I have been tutoring for three years at the Milwaukee School Of Engineering teaching calculus 1-4, differential equations, discrete math, linear algebra, intro software courses, and high-level machine learning and AI courses.
On top of my tutoring experience, I am currently a student at the Milwaukee School of Engineering majoring in Computer Science with an Artificial Intelligence focus and minoring in Mathematics. This unique perspective enables me to frame my tutoring style around what styles I've learned to hate and love about my professors.
I also work for GE Healthcare as an Edison Engineering Software Intern writing code for magnetic resonance machines and have been doing internships since my sophomore year of highschool.

Getting personally vested in other students' success and watching them grow has been the best part of any job I have had. I have only gotten as far in my career as rapidly as I have since others have reached down to lift me up and I can't wait to do the same for you!
I came into MSOE with the intention to perform so I kept setting the curve in my Freshman classes earning the respect of my peers quickly. My peers started turning to me for help on the side so it got to a point where I'd help 4-5 of my friends at a time through mini-lectures in the library out of a passion for helping others and pulling them up with me! After this, it was a natural transition into tutoring.
I am currently a Junior level Computer Science major focusing on artificial intelligence and minoring in mathematics at the Milwaukee School of Engineering. I have also been tutoring other students in math and software since my freshman year!

I will spend a couple of minutes at the start of the first session to get to know a tutee and ask questions that help me tailor my tutoring to best suit the student. After figuring out the best teaching style for someone and establishing a relationship, I get straight to seeing what troubles them and tutoring!
I have primarily worked with all levels of college students. I even have experience working with non-traditional students such as veterans!
Hire them for a single session to start. Gauge their teaching style and make sure it works for you. If it doesn't work at first, the benefit of a tutor is that it's very personal so don't be afraid to communicate what works best for you!
I had a student come to me for help with differential equations last year. He was failing everything and not understanding anything during lectures. After a short conversation with him and looking at his notes, I refined a teaching style to use with him where I broke everything down into easy to follow and understand steps and skipped all the unscary high-level details. From this, I even taught him how to still get the easy steps out of lectures despite his professor's teaching style not making it easy! Soon after starting to meet with me, he managed to pull A's on every quiz and finished with a high grade!
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
How is the teacher splitting their time teaching across theory and examples?
What percentage of the board is covered in math vs. English at the end of a class?
Is there a professor you really enjoyed and if so, why? Maybe this could help identify what you need.
What kind of learner are you? Visuals benefit from sitting towards the front and using color codes. Auditory benefit from recording lessons to listen to again later. Verbal benefit from taking vigorous notes and teaching others. Logical benefits from more numbers and less English. Physical benefit from moving during study and decluttered desks. Social benefits from collaboration. And solitaries benefit from books, visuals, and listening aids.

Ethan is a great tutor and helped me a lot when I was taking differential equations. He understands the material very well and could break down problems so they were easier to understand. He helped me a lot through the class and challenged my understanding by making me go through practice problems to see if I did indeed understand what we reviewed each tutoring session.
He's very helpful and knowledgeable tutor. He is also very good at judging if you understand the material or not.
He was super flexible with meetings (if we had to meet a little later, we could, and if we needed a little extra time, he stayed). He was good at tutoring both in-person and online and was an overall good guy. If I ever need math tutoring in the future, I will definitely go back to Ethan Hindes.
He is always welcome to questions, even the ones I think are stupid, and is really good at adjusting to the pace of the learner and getting a sense of the understanding.
He explained everything in a very easy to understand way. Really helped my math grade.
BEST TUTOR I HAD!. Had Ethan for college-level mathematics for calc III and saved my grade from a longshot. Made the material easier to understand and digest. Works with you very well and is straightforward on things he thinks you should work on. Ethan really cares about making sure you understand the concepts so you can apply them to any problem. Which is perfect for my field of studying electrical engineering. I would say if your looking for a tutor who cares for your success and willing to work with you. I would suggest Ethan. More than anything I would say Ethan doesn't just tutor you on math but teaches you how to learn.
Great person to have as a tutor. Knew about every question I had and knew how to solve it shortly after asking it.
