About Alyson
I center a personalized, individual approach to every student, lesson, and subject. I want to understand how the student learns best, and ensure that they understand the material by asking probing questions, and eventually asking enough questions to demonstrate they can walk someone else through the material; that is the true mark of knowing, understanding and mastering the information.
I love working with my students, ensuring they understand what we're working on, and letting them know I am on their team! High school students, especially, are incredibly overworked as they prepare for college, play sports, participate in extracurriculars, and fit in time for studying. I want them to know my goal is to help them reach their goals by ensuring that they understand the material. I will work with the student and their parents on an appropriate amount of additional work between lessons, as needed, but if they can demonstrate understanding and fluency of the topics via homework already assigned to them, all the better!

I have worked with upper level (4th - 6th) elementary school students, middle and high school, college, and those pursuing a law degree. I can assist with research papers and essay writing and proofreading for college students, as well as most topics in math/english/history for high school students (except calculus). I tutor younger students in all topics. I have worked with students who have ASD, AHDH, dislexia and processing disorders.
