About Sophia
Teaching has been my passion since I started tutoring math and science about 10 years ago. I specialize in Calculus, Algebra, and Physics. I find that a teacher can make or break a class so I strive to teach each student in a personalized way that matches how they learn best. With my assistance, your child will gain the knowledge and confidence they need to complete their class work, ask questions in class, and excel on exams.
I was homeschooled until 8th grade and my parents focused heavily on math so when I started classes in public school I caught on to the math lessons quickly and would be asked by friends for help. I started going to their houses to volunteer tutor them once a week or so and absolutely fell in love with teaching and helping my peers. When their grades improved, some of their parents insisted on paying me and recommending me to their friends and I have tutored ever since.
I've worked about 10 years tutoring math and science (6th grade through College) on my own and through two tutoring companies. I've taken 4 levels of Calculus and 4 levels of Physics.

I find that a teacher can make or break a class. This is the number one reason I tend to get students who need tutoring. I have had to teach myself a class or two because of this. To combat this, I like to teach students in a personalized way. I make a point to morph my teaching methods to each student, and it is usually obvious which methods click right away.
I have worked with students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, and ADHD.
Make sure they are dynamic and like tutoring! Some things I've heard my students say are "my tutor before you couldn't see when I was struggling to understand" or "the tutor before you seemed like they just didn't want to be here.”
I helped a college student pass their class and afterwards they told me without my help they would have had to drop their major. Now they're reenergized and on track to complete their degree. Moments like that keep me energized and excited about tutoring. I love seeing real differences I helped someone achieve in their life.

Perfect! Sophia is awesome. Very accessible. Turned my son's calculus grades around in just a few sessions, giving him more confidence and focus with each lesson. It also radically changed the teacher's perception of his skillset. I highly recommend her for your math tutoring!
Perfect! Explains all things easily and informative in her ability to relate to student.

Sophia got my son caught up on his missing assignments and after working with her he not only passed his Calculus final but got an A!! She would even help my son over text if he got stuck on a problem after their session. Thank you for being on my son’s team this semester Sophia!
I took my last physics test today and made a 97%! Thank you Sophia for all your help this year! Physics scared me so much but no matter how anxious I was you always made it easy for me to understand. I couldn’t have done it without you! Thank you again!
Sophia has been fantastic and a big help for my daughter in her calculus and physics classes.
Awesome job! We sure do miss working with Sophia as she ALWAYS does amazing work!
I’m so great full for the work she did with my daughter! She wants to continue to work with Sophia next year. The one-on-one time has significantly helped her.
Sophia was perfect at helping My son with algebra. He has a good enough grade to exempt the final! Woohoo!! Thanks so much for all your help!!!
We are very pleased with Sophia. She is reliable, flexible, friendly, good at explaining concepts, and patient.
IS AMAZING, she truly understands the material, and is able to answer any and all questions, and comes up with really good models to help reinforce the content. She's very kind and patient, and is willing to meet either in person or through skype for as long as you need her to, in order to further explain the material. Very flexible too and will make time for tutoring schedules.
Sophia is an excellent tutor. She has a lot of knowledge. My son enjoys working with her.
She is the best. Great communication. Very timely. Very nice. Easy to connect to. She helped so much in Calculus for our daughter.
