About Christian
I'm a tireless, passionate educator who will do whatever it takes to help your child succeed. I've have my Master's degree in education and been a teacher for 19 years. I have worked with students of all abilities levels for accelerated to students with disabilities. Math is my specialty and I spent most of my career in New York State working with the common core standards...so there is nothing that we can't do together.
Tutoring is something that I have done every summer and school year since I began teaching. I love seeing kids succeed and know that through hard work, effort, and patience, all students are capable of greatness. Teaching is my calling and I truly enjoy the a-ha moments where things click for kids!!
I took a summer job at a school with students who had severe emotional disabilities after I graduated from the University of Rochester with an economics degree. I realized right away that this was my calling and what I was meant to do. I went back to school that fall for my certification and master's degree.
I have my master's degree in Education from Nazareth College.
I have NYS and SC certifications.
I have been teaching for 19 years with the last 16 being at the middle school level. I have served on 3 different occasions as a math department chairperson.
I have tutoring students from first grade through pre-calculus.

I like to have a thorough conversation with both the student and the parent to see what their strengths are as well as areas of need. Then I draw on my knowledge of the curriculum and content to develop a plan of action that I share with both the student and parent.
I have tutor students in all grades and at levels. As a teacher, I have worked many years with students with disabilities co-teaching with a special education teacher. I have also taught several years with honors and accelerated students. Although my main teaching experience has been 4th-8th grade, my work as department chair has enabled me to be familiar with K-12 content and curriculum.
Find someone with a solid content base who is passionate about what they do. It's also important to find someone who feel comfortable who you feel really cares about helping you.
I had a parent of a 7th grade student who hated math recently email and thank me because he actually loves coming to my class and he no longer fights her about doing his homework. This is a battle we tend to face with math-phobic students but I'm proud of the fact that he is working hard at such an important subject. I always tell the kids...if you have an open mind, I'll get you to like math. 😃
