About Emma
Since I am in high school, I have learned over the past year I have been tutoring that kids and teens are able to relate to me and I am able to help them more efficiently. It gives a sense of trust, knowing that I am not that much older than they are.
The most enjoyable part of the job is watching my students shift from curiosity to knowledge, and that "aha!" moment they have when learning something new.
When I first started tutoring, it was solely because I needed money, and I knew I had the brains to be a tutor. Although, after a few months, I came to enjoy it a lot.

Getting to know them and the strategy to best teach them first, whether it is showing them, giving fully-detailed explanations, or anything they may need to ensure they learn and remember.
I have worked with students in elementary, middle, and high school with different reading levels, writing skills, and levels of learning in general. I tend to work with kids who are new to the subject or struggling with it a lot, but I've also worked with people who just want more explanation and direction.
Don't look for teachers who only promise you that you will learn, look for teachers who promise you that you will learn AND that promise to be patient, empathetic, and friendly.
