About Joyce

I have a passion for helping students realize their fullest potential through learning. I know how frustrating it feels to not understand a topic in school and how even more frustrating it feels to not feel supported by those tasked to educate you, so I aim to make every student feel empowered to use their personal learning styles to grasp difficult concepts.

I have been tutoring elementary, middle and high school math on and off for the past 6 years and genuienly enjoying supporting students in finding their joy in learning.

Whenever I saw a classmate struggling in class, I would always offer to help and that made me realize that I had a passion for helping others strive to success in learning. I began volunteering as a tutor before and after school in high school and continued tutoring throughout the middle of my undergraduate career in college.



I have been tutoring on and off for the past 6 years primarily in elementary, middle and high school math.

I typically like to start by getting to know the student and finding out what are their biggest area of struggles. From there, I like to ask what is the best way that the student likes to learn and then conducting a mini lecture to assess the student's strengths and tweek approach to tutoring accordingly.



I've worked primarily with students of color from low socioeconomic backgrounds and students with mild learning disabilites.



You should be so proud of yourself for seeking out the help and striving to do better academically! Work with someone who has experience tutoring/teaching in the specific area that you need help with and be prepared to put in that hard work!
