About Alex
Deep down, I always knew I was a nerd who was really into Math. However, it wasn't until I was in high school when I learned that being a nerd is pretty cool. Learning Math is very exciting when you can see the links between the concepts and you feel like you can create your own experiences with the subject. Despite the stereotype of nerds being shy and distant, I consider myself to be a very social person and love to share my experiences with and passion for math with others. Learning and helping others learn is my life goal and I am currently pursuing this goal by getting my Bachelor's of Science in Mathematical Sciences and Physics at Carnegie Mellon University. In terms of my experience teaching, I have unprofessionally tutored siblings, cousins, high school and college classmates in subjects ranging from Algebra 1 (Math 1) all the way up to Multivariate Calculus (Analytical Geometry). I also have experience tutoring middle school and high school students Java and Web Development Programming over summer camps under Glen A. Wilson's High School's CODE Club. In the last summer Web Dev camp I taught, I very proudly received an award for best teacher!
All of it. I love learning and helping other's learn. I get very enthusiastic about the subject material because I find it so interesting. I also like being very expressive and engaging with students during sessions since it makes everyone more comfortable and I think everyone (including me) learns best when they can actively participate.
