About Kelly

I was born to teach. I loved every moment I spent in the classroom, and during my ten-year career in education I was able to reach countless students. I've taught in the general education setting as well as serving special education classrooms for grades PreK-8th. I also coordinated and directed Individual Education Plan compliance as the Exceptional Student Education Coordinator and Local Education Agency for the schools where I taught.

I currently homeschool my high school children and oversee their dual enrollment in college. I am a certified educator in North Carolina with a Master's Degree in Special Education and an Autism Spectrum Disorder Endorsement. I was recognized as a High Impact Teacher for three consecutive years and I was also nominated as and awarded the Teacher of the Year for my district. I have so much experience working with children as a teacher and as a tutor. I also have a wealth of knowledge to assist parents in planning for their children's educational needs, whether it be tutoring, homeschooling, test preparation, or dual enrollment in preparation for college.

Currently, our hourly rate is $60-75 and we can tutor in your home or a preferred location. We offer online tutoring as well. Ask about our executive functioning sessions!

My career in teaching started in high school. I chose the Early Childhood Education track and absolutely loved learning teaching techniques and working with students. From there, I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Education and my Master's Degree in Special Education. I taught for over ten years in the classroom and as an Exceptional Education support facilitator and coordinator. I am certified to teach, educate, tutor, and proctor students of all abilities. Most importantly, I have a wealth of knowledge around strategies that will work best for children with varying needs. I also schedule my session for flexibility around executive functioning skills enhancement techniques. 



Are you a certified teacher? I am a certified teacher in the state of North Carolina. My certification allows me to proctor tests as well as to be a teacher of record if needed. I also hold a Master's Degree in Special Education with an endorsement in Autism Spectrum Disorders. What about tutoring children with different abilities (ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Specific Learning Disabilities), etc.? We offer a free consultation to discuss your student's needs. At the first session, we meet to discuss your child's educational learning goals and create a learning plan. From that point, you will receive an individualized session breakdown. When registering for tutoring, please know that you are committing to a semester of sessions. Scheduled sessions are agreed upon at the beginning of the semester for each tutor and family. Tutoring sessions can be started after a semester has started. You will not need to apply for each semester.



I work with students from Pre-K through High School and assist in Dual Enrollment at the college level as well. I offer enrichment for gifted and talented students, academic support for struggling students, and instruction that supports students with different abilities, too. I help with homeschoolers, students in public and private schools, and college-bound students as well. I can also assist parents in planning for their child's educational goals. 



I would advide the student/parent to evaluate a teacher based on their achievements, their ability to adapt to student's needs, and the importance that is placed on the child's overall well-being and academic improvement.



Recently, I was working on a novel unit for Animal Farm by George Orwell. We did so many activities around character development that the student personified each of the characters with a specific voice. Throughout the unit, he would continually bring up parts of the story in other subject areas. I could see that it really impacted him.

When it came time for the unit assessment, he scored a 95%, which was a huge increase in achievement but more importantly, he loved the experience!

I think the right teacher can anticipate student needs, and I would encourage any of my students to express what is giving them difficulty so that we can evaluate the cause of those issues together.

Tutoring Details

•    Sessions are 50-60 minutes in length, generally twice a week. Sessions are conducted online or in-person.  We do tutor in private homes for an additional fee.

•    When registering for tutoring, please know that you are committing to a semester of sessions. Scheduled sessions are agreed upon at the beginning of the semester for each tutor and family.  Tutoring sessions can be started after a semester has started.  You will not need to apply for each semester.

•    Session Rate: Sessions range from $50 to $100 + a 3.75% processing/administrative fee. Fees are dependent on the level of intervention needed as well as the location of the service.

•    Tutoring sessions must be canceled with at least 24-hour notice to avoid charges.

•    We offer group and individual rates.

Simply put, my rate reflects the amount of experience I have in my field. It also includes the planning time that I need to individualize lessons for your child.
