Figure out what areas they believe they are struggling.
Review background knowledge to make sure they have understanding of past material.
Help explain processes and problems where they seem to be hung up or stuck.
Identify what work is required to be done. Have student start on assignment themselves and watch their problem solving. Closely monitor how they work.
Explain in detail any processes they are not understanding. I will adapt how I instruct with what they have an understanding of, and how they learn best.
Try challenge problems to test understanding. Explain more in detail if needed. If they have a good understanding, move along to the other similar content and make sure they understand the entire topic.
Go through assignments and ask if there is anything else they need help understanding.
Be very honest with what you feel comfortable with and have a good understanding of. Ask for help if there is anything giving you confusion.
