About Larry R
Hello, my name is LarryRCampbell! I'm a former "professional guitarist", "session player", "solo musician", & "instrumental songwriter".
After many years as professional musician growing up in Little Rock, AR, I relocated to Texarkana in '78, & began teaching "Guitar & Music Theory" at the former Loveall Music Company in the City! Later, taught at Mic'd Music Co., & LarryProGuitarLessons!
Presently, celebrating my 5th year at TAMA, located at the West Entrance of Central Mall. Teaching all major styles, "beginner to advanced", with an added focus on "composition" & "understanding the tremendous advantage of Music Fundamentals"!

As a musician totally fascinated with the tremendous potential of "a guitar", leads me to one conclusion......"knowledge is everything"! With knowledge comes possibilities...& the amazing thing is, "no 2 people interpret that knowledge the same"! Wanna be unique? It's easier than one might think!
With that being said, it's a challenge for every beginner to understand the notes on the fingerboard, as well as note relationships, such as intervals, chords, & progressions....but, when a student shows a sigh of relief & makes a statement like: "This is all beginning to make sense"! That is music to my ears!
Following 10 years as a professional musician in Little Rock, AR, I relocated to Texarkana in 1978, my current City & worked at a retail music store by day, & taught guitar after hours. I taught for 19 years at this location! I accepted an offer with a local sound contractor in the City, so I taught for 8 years, in my home under the name, "LarryProGuitarLessons"! I later taught at Mic'd Music for 1 1/2 years & now I'm on my 5th year at Texarkana Academy of Musical Arts!
*Ten years as a professional musician playing the local club circuit, including 4 years of touring 7 US states!
*Studied under Dr. Ray Bell at Boyd Music Center specifically to learn to read notation!
*Inspired by: George Benson, Frank Gambale, Larry Carlton, Lee Ritenour, Steve Lukather, Steve Morse, The Rippingtons, Phil Keaggy & many more!

Four Classifications:
Class 1: Beginners (Children)
Mel Bay Modern Guitar Method Grade 1-7, alternating with periods of "fun time" of learning songs with basic open chords, fingering the major scale!
Class 2: Beginners (Adults)
*Optional: Mel Bay Modern Guitar Method 1-7 ~or~
A comprehensive course including the following: *Breakdown basic 3 chord songs, *Learn chords, & rhythms (in basic 4/4 & 3/4 time), *Counting exercises: whole notes, half notes, quarter notes, eighth notes & rests *Learn "basic music theory", (the "7 Diatonic chords"). *Introduce the major scale, intervals, triads & simple melody, *Strumming techniques
Class 3: Intermediate
Learn various types of chord progressions, riffs, & scales * Song examples *Intermediate intervals: 2nds, 3rds, 4ths, 5th's, 6th's, flat 7ths, major 7ths & Octaves. And minor 2nd, minor 3rd, minor 6ths, minor 7, including sus2 & sus4 chords. *Diatonic chords & Nashville Number System, *Counting exercises, *Major & minor scales
Class 4: Advanced
*This is a continuation of the previous course, to also include a "thorough study of each of the 7 Modes", it's chord progression, & the Root chord of the perspective mode. *Diatonic chords, open string chords, neutral chords, alternate chords, jazz chords, *3-notes-per-string technique for modal playing! *Scales, arpeggios, alternate picking, melody vs. solos. *Instrumental Songwriting!
~Optional~
Solo acoustic guitar with "thumb & fingers technique", or "flat pick & fingers technique".

One-time $25 registration fee for The Academy...this fee is good for the whole family!
All instrument courses: $80 per month includes a 30-minute lesson each & every week! $105 the 1st month, $80 thereafter!
*45-minute lesson each week is $120/month
*1-hour lesson each week is $160/ month!
