About Tyler
As opposed the strict nature of other teachers my approach is to find music and genres that excites my students and teach them to play. We learn the fundamentals along the way. Every student is different and they are all excited by different things. Some want to learn to shred others want to play and sing and learn how to write songs.
What you get with me is personalized lessons and hopefully faster growth. I get excited when a student is truly thrilled about what they've learned and excited to "show off"
I started teaching because a friend of mine needed someone to sub for him and realized how helpful a good teacher was. All the lessons I had as a kid were strict and didn't speak to me. I strive to do the opposite of that.
When I would make significant progress on my personal journey it felt great. I like seeing that in my students especially younger ones. Really understanding music and mastering an instrument feels amazing and is a skill that really enriches someone's whole life. I feel great seeing that progress. Especially when I see it with my younger students.
I have had tons of voice lessons in college, and was mentored on music theory personally with an artist Zebulon Krol. I eventually went on to write and EP with him and still work with him today.
I taught myself guitar and learned music theory through mentors through out the years mostly from an uncle I grew up with and my musical mentor Zebulon who has a masters from Berkley school of music.

At first I want to understand what a student is looking for. What music they enjoy. Are they interested in singing? Do they want to play rock music or folk music etc. Rarely is a younger student interested in scales or music theory early on. So I have to sneak it in.
