Chris is very patient and supportive of me as I continue to develop my guitar playing skills. He talks with me to understand what I am struggling with, and thinks through creative practice solutions to help me to work through the challenges. I have small hands and it's at times challenging to get the fingerings to work, but he develops exercise routines for my hands to build their strength. He also has made guitar lessons fun by helping me to play songs that I am interested in learning.

I took guitar lessons with Chris a number of years ago. I appreciated the approach of teaching me how to play songs that I already knew, but did not know how to play. Using that method, I was able to self-correct more easily when I was practicing on my own. He balanced supporting me as a student while at the same time challenging me to get out of my comfort zone and take risks with my playing. This is especially helpful for students who tendency toward perfectionism. His skill as a musician inspired me to become better and keep practicing. I can say that I have been playing guitar for 30 years, and I attribute a great deal of that longevity to Chris's approach.

When I was 13 years old, I joined a music group in Los Angeles. The Choir director in this group was a guitarist/bass player Chris Dugmore. Having already studied guitar for three years, Chris Dugmore took me under his wing and mentored me, expanded my knowledge of playing, and reading music to a whole different level. As the years progressed I wanted to take on bass playing, To which he had a fountain of knowledge, and taught me the subtle differences between the acoustic guitar and bass guitar.

With this knowledge that Chris Dugmore imparted on me, my musical journey has expanded into playing, Not only string instruments, but brass instruments and woodwinds as well.
