About Peter
Mr. Peter Lionel Briger, Jr. is the Co-Chairman and the Principal on the Board of Directors of the global Fortress Investment Group. He is a graduate of Princeton University with a degree in Business Administration and a Master’s in Business Administration from the preeminent Wharton School of Business.
His career began 15 years ago when he worked at Goldman, Sachs and Company in 1996. Mr. Briger has held many managerial titles at Goldman Sachs like Partner, Co-head of Asian financial areas involving real estate, private equity, special opportunities, distressed debt business, and fixed income. He also sat on key Asian executive and management committees which helped to grow the company’s investment status. In his earlier career, Peter Briger worked in the U.S. Treasury Department as a top financial official during the Kennedy and Johnson Administrations.
In addition to his paramount success at the Fortress Investment Group, Peter Briger sits on the Board of Directors of his alma mater Princeton University’s Investment Company. Mr. Briger enjoys his community work as an executive on the Tipping Point Directorship Board. The basic foundation of Tipping Point is to help low income families in the San Francisco area. Additional community work by Peter Briger consists of his service on the Board of Directors of Caliber Schools. Caliber Schools are a network of charter schools designed to mentor students with a goal of attending four-year colleges and other future endeavors.
Today, Fortress Investment Group oversees physical and financial assets involving real estate, capital assets, and more. Peter is a top notch variegated, worldwide investment manager which is why he leads the Fortress credit and real estate division. The Fortress Investment Group has received many acknowledgements like being named “Hedge Fund Manager of the Year” in 2014. Fortress Investment Group was also nominated as “Management Firm of the Year” by HFM Week the leading hedge fund publication. Previous honors in 2010, 2011, and 2012 included ‘Discretionary Macro-Focused’ and ‘Credit-Focused Hedge Fund of the Year.’
