About Ken

Hi, I’m Ken. I’m bilingual in English and Japanese, and I teach English to students at the lower intermediate level and above.

I was born in Fukuoka, Japan and moved to the United States when I was 8 years old. I graduated from Columbia University and received my certificate in TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) from University of California Berkeley International House.

I currently teach General English at EF International Language Campus in Tarrytown, New York. I have also been teaching ESL online for over a year.

I hope I can help you reach your goals; academic, professional, or personal.

I believe that language opens the door to understanding. Understanding creates peace, love, and better relationships around the world. The work opportunities that come with English proficiency are merely a bonus. The great poet Rumi said, “Speak a new language so that the world will be a new world.”

I have a B.A. from Columbia University and a Certificate in TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) from University of California Berkeley International House.

I currently teach English at EF International Language Campus in Tarrytown, New York. I also have over one year of experience teaching English online.

About the lesson

If you'd like to start taking lessons with me, we will schedule a free consultation call to discuss your goals and determine whether I will be a good fit for you. Once we decide to move forward, you can schedule 50-minute lessons with me once or twice per week depending on your needs.

I have experience working with students CEFR Level A1-B2. CEFR stands for Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, and it is used to distinguish a student's English abilities from beginner to proficient. Don't know what your CEFR Level is? No problem! We can talk about it during our consultation call.
