About Mary
With a Bachelor's in English with Teaching and two Masters in Shakespeare, I have gained the training and knowledge to tutor a wide range of English topics. But, beyond my educational training, I simply have a passion for tutoring and education.
I am passionate abour writing, reading, and speaking, and through tutoring not only do I get to spend time thinking and talking about my favorite topics, but I get to spread my excitement to someone else. I believe that engendering passion is the first step of successful tutoring. While I know not everyone loves writing, reading, and speaking, I believe everyone can find a way to make it their own.
Aside from my formal degrees, I also have years of experience working as a writing tutor for college students and have taught college composition.

My process will always begin with a personal discussion with the student about their goals for our time together, and then a discussion about where they believe their strengths and weaknesses lie. From there, we will tackle those goals through tailored activities and assigntments.
I have professionally tutored college students of all ages and backgrounds in writing.
Additionally, in finishing my bachelor's degree I taught eleventh and twelth grade English as well as tutored students in ESL.
Finally, I have directed 8th through 12th grade students the American Shakespeare Center Theatre Camp which involved working one on one with them to help them understand and perform the texts.
