About Nicole
I have been an English, Social Studies, and Math teacher for 13 years in the Salem-Keizer School District in Salem, Oregon. I have taught a variety of Social Studies and English courses to grades 9-12 and have taught Pre-Algebra as well.
I am licensed in English/Language Arts, Social Studies, and English to Speakers of Other Languages in Oregon for Grades Pre-K to 12.
I believe that all students can succeed if they have the desire to do so, but that nobody can make them want to do it except themselves. I also believe it only takes one adult in their life to make a difference in a child's life, and I love to be that one adult.
I love seeing the growth in students and the work that they do. I so love seeing it when they "get it" and the joy that they demonstrate when this happens.
I love connecting with my students, becomming a trusted adult in their lives.
I have always worked hard in the classroom at developing curriculum and activities that connect with students and their lives to make the learning relevant for them. I am passionate about making a classroom a welcoming place where students feel comfortable.
