About Catherine
I specialize in dyslexia tutoring using the Orton-Gillingham based Barton system. This is a proven method for helping children with Dyslexia learn to read and improve their spelling.
I am passionate about helping students with learning differences! I homeschooled my own children who struggle with dyslexia and other learning differences and worked with students in various classroom settings. I am constantly trying to improve my methods and my ability to help all children learn. This led me to earn my teaching certificate in elementary education. I cherish my time in the classroom being able to help children learn. I have a strong background in psychology and this framework has taken me down roads that have helped me find ways to help children who learn and think just a little (or a lot) differently.
I am a certified elementary school teacher. I have also received indepth training in 2 Orton-Gillingham based programs (Really Great Reading and Barton).

We will meet for an initial consultation and screener to see if the Barton method is the right fit. After the screener, if we proceed, students will set up regular tutoring sessions ( at least 2 one-hour sessions per week).
Students with dyslexia, ADHD, and mood disorders
An Orton-Gillingham based program is THE most reliable method for helping students with Dyslexia learn to read and spell. Make sure the system being used has a structured literacy approach like all Orton-Gillingham based programs do.
