About the lesson

Generally speaking, I utlize a student-oriented model of tutoring.

1. During the first session or so, I prefer to take a slightly more observant approach. This to gauge the individual's natural study habits, strengths, and areas for growth.

2. After gathering an idea of where the student's study habits and need for improvement lies, I focus on building long-term skills that may be broadly applicable to homework, exams, and standardized testing. Rather than deviating from a student's desired focus (e.g. working on an essay, studying for a final exam), I apply these skill building techniques towards the relevant content of each session.

3*. As a researcher that studies memory and learning, many of my skill building techniques target the improvement of working and episodic memory encoding; e.g. optimizing the duration of studying, comprehension of material, and memorization of definitions.
