About Amanda
Hello! My name is Amanda Richardson and I am a certified teacher in Indiana for grades K-6. I have served as a technology teacher, instructional assistant, kindergarten teacher, and interventionist in the Indy area. I am currently working as an ESL instructional assistant at a school in Pike Township.
I went through the Transition to Teaching Program at IUPUI after finding my passion for teaching during my technology teacher position. I love teaching for the AHA moments that students have, and I also love building relationships with each student I work with. I would be honored to tutor your child and help them grow as a scholar and as an overall person! :)
My favorite thing about teaching is building relationships with students. In my opinion, it is very hard to teach a student who doesn't feel that they can completely trust you. I also love that look a student's face when something finally clicks for them. :)

I believe that getting to know a student first, as a person and as a student, is essential in order to be able to teach them effectively. A positive relationship is important in order for the student to trust a teacher or tutor, and be willing to listen and put in their best effort. Getting to know how a student learns best is required as well. Each student learns differently, and tailoring your teaching or tutoring to each student's strengths is what will help them grow and reach their full potential. Making learning fun/engaging in some way is also important so the student can learn to love learning.
