About Candice
Teaching young children how to read brings me great joy. Watching them become successful readers is like watching a miracle happen right before my eyes. I've taught elementary reading for 12 years in public schools. The majority of my students finished the academic year on or above grade-level each year I taught.
I hold a BS in Elementary Education with and Endorcement in Kindergarten as well as a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education.
I specialize in phonics instruction which can help a child decode unknown words. When taught in a systematic manner, along with important sight words, phonics serves as a solid foundation for reading, writing, and spelling success.
One of my strengths as an educator is my knowledge of child development, which has given me the ability to determine a child's needs and respond with compassion and patience. Young readers need support and encouragement while learning to read.
It would be my priviledge to help your child in his or her adventures in reading.
