About Finn
I'm exceedingly passionate about the English language. I think human communication is a beautiful thing, and it inspires me to do all I can to help others express themselves.
I love connecting with people and making a difference in their lives. I have a wealth of knowledge, and I genuinely enjoy sharing it. I have a strong academic background (both of my parents are college professors!), and I feel like I am honoring my roots when I teach.
I graduated Smith College with an English degree and a 3.75 GPA. I also have experience presenting information to people of all ages, from my time as a youth advisor for my county's district attorney and from my time as a communications intern at an educational center.

I like to start with getting to know the student and using that as a means of determining what level they are at. English is all about communication, so I think it only makes sense to start off by communicating! Once I've established where we're at, the technical work can begin.
Find someone who cares deeply about your growth. English isn't like other subjects in that it's not just about memorizing dates or formulas; it's unique for everyone. You will never express your thoughts in the same way that another person will. So, you need someone who will help cultivate your voice in a way that is personal to you.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Don't be embarrassed! Your teacher is not there to judge you or make you feel bad for being confused or needing extra help. English is all about saying what's on your mind--so say it!
