About Stephen

A patient special education teacher, I have experience teaching English to children and adults. I am also a non-native and proficient speaker of Spanish, so I can empathize with the language learning process.

I have been a certified teacher since 2006. I have tutored individuals as well as groups.

I began teaching after extended time spent in Mexico and falling in love with its people and culture. I traveled with a friend who spoke fluent Spanish and I became interested in languages and the language learning process.

I became a certified teacher in 2006 and have taught in elementary general and special education classes.

I am a certified bilingual special education teacher since 2006. I have taught English to adults through Literacy Austin and. a tutoring agency in Mexico City.

English

Building vocabulary and grammar through a fun and interactive process. Hands-on experience beats book smarts. There is a necessary element of memorization with languages but we can make it fun.

I have worked with a wide range of students: special needs students aged 3-6, general education students aged 4-8, adult groups from the general population and individual business clients.

I would look for a teacher with success teaching to a person or population similar to you.

It is always a joy to witness students graduate and then grow.
