His education, experience and depth of knowledge about different drumming styles is apparent from the first moment you meet him and his demeanor is equally impressive. I took lessons from Willis for a year online via zoom. He was a wonderful teacher- supportive, knowledgeable, and very encouraging. I’m an adult beginner- 53 years old- and it’s a challenge to try something new and be willing to mess up in front of another person. But Willis made it easy. He knew when to push me to try a new skill, and when to go slow and remind me of all I’d already accomplished. He has a very positive and approachable teaching style. I highly recommend him to any one as a drum teacher!

Willis was an excellent teacher and I could tell he's been teaching for a long time by the way he tailored the lesson to my skill level and the style of music I want to play. He was even willing to stay a few extra minutes after our lesson and recommend some tunes he was listening to. In the lesson, he made an effort to learn about previous teachers I've had and what I learned from them, and asked me questions about what I'm interested in playing. He also brought some of his own materials that he has created for students. His teaching style is refreshing because he approaches the lesson by centering the student and being flexible with his teaching style. I would highly recommend Willis as a teacher, and will be signing my son up for beginner lessons with him as well.
