About Alexander
Through the study of history and the artists that helped document it, Alex Logue delivers lessons and projects that focus on the individual as an active figure in the documentation of the present. Alex Logue focuses on how artists throughout history have taken from their present, learned from their past, and made work that best reflected their unique, yet universal, experiences. He uses graphic novels, illustrations, paintings, and films to express the notion that personal histories can be uniquely tied, and connections can be made through authentic and artistic expression.
Alex Logue graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology in May 2019, with a degree in Illustration and Art History; he was vice president of the news paper club (W27) and was fortunate enough to lead art programs for children ever since graduating. He's currently pursuing a master's degree in Art Education and hopes to lead a successful career as an educator.
I was asked to lead an art workshop at a summer camp in the summer after my graduation (2019). The person who hired me has been an avid supporter of my abilities and I am grateful for her belief in me.
I have a BFA in Illustration and Art History and have worked as a freelance art instructor since May of 2019.

About the lesson

First, we establish our main interests and our inspirations. Then, we track down artists or individuals who have affected us and jot down qualities that we aspire to reach or obtain.
The student selects which medium they'd like to pursue, and we conceptualize a series based on those interests. We create moodboards and sketches, and we create the foundation for a unique representation of the student through either a comic, paintings, or drawings.
I have worked mainly with children between the ages of 6 to 10, no more than 15 students at a time.
Think of what story you'd like to tell and what artists inspire you; ask yourself what work could you produce and what is the best way for you to produce it? (Through painting? Comics? Film?)
Recently I was asked to participate in a Hispanic Heritage Month Festival as an art instructor; I got to show families and their children how to recreate famous artworks by Salvadoran artist Fernando Llort, while talking about El Salvador's history and the importance of community during a time of turmoil.

Details
I charge hourly, and prices are negotiable. I usually start at $50 an hour, and supplies will be negotiated with students. I will provide references and resources for the student.
