About Alison

It's not talent, it's motivation, enthusiasm, confidence and practice. You can have it and use it. I'll help you get there.
I started work as an ACT/SAT and English composition and reading comprehension tutor for C2 Education. I learned quickly that I have a strong knack for establishing a productive rapport with learners. Learning is not a matter of talent or IQ but of habit, familiarity, confidence and repetition.
I have an education from the College of Fine Arts at Carnegie Mellon University.

First I send a list of materials after I find out the goal set for the student, and arrive on appointment with easels, my own canvas and surfaces, and paints/graphic supplies. The student needs to choose a well-lit area for working with a sheet throw on the floor. We will set up a beginning basic still life and start with 30 minutes of shape thumbnails, then go into establishing composition, point perspective, color palette and confidence building exercises. After establishing an eye for perspective we can start working on an introduction to detailed rendering. After focusing on these essential elements we will go into filling canvases using acrylic paints in which I introduce fills, washes, layering, drybrushing and detail rendering. This introductory set of lessons can achieve definite results in 8-10 classes.
Mostly teenagers, the most challenging and demanding.
Look for a concrete lesson plan. Then you know that they have a core education in the arts.
Driving the CEO of a large classical distribution label headquartered in Nashville to his home in Franklin. Details
$85 per 2-hour class. If the student wants me to bring all the materials they will use, it's $100. The pricing remains the same for up to 5 students, however additional time may be necessary for individual instruction at $50/hr and additional materials are $15 per student per class. I have 1 additional easel. 3 to 5 students would need at least 1 additional hour to achieve the same result as with individual instruction.
