About Victor
Hello!
I'm Victor Yu, and I bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table as your tutor. With a B.S. in Human Biology from UC San Diego, where I graduated cum laude with a GPA of 3.89, I have a solid academic foundation in the sciences. I have been tutoring for 2.5 years —2 years of private tutoring, along with a position at Rowland High School and 6 months as a teaching assistant in biochemistry and biology at UCSD—equip me with the skills to support students of all backgrounds and learning styles.
I strive to make complicated learning objectives into digestible bits. For students to grasp and understand. I am an expert in creating practice questions that test if the student has understood the core concept behind each problem. What sets me apart is my dedication to creating a personalized and engaging learning experience. I focus on building confidence, developing critical thinking skills, and fostering a genuine love for learning.
If you're looking for a tutor who can help you achieve your academic goals while making the process enjoyable, I’m here to help! Let’s work together to unlock your full potential.
Throughout my undergraduate studies, I saw many of my fellow classmates struggling with understanding different studying materials; this led me to start holding my own tutoring sessions to help them grasp the materials better.
I have excelled in college and graduate-level Biology and Chemistry courses.

I usually start by gauging the student's level of understanding for different subjects by quizzing them on core concepts. Then I would focus on fixing the most foundational problems I see in their understanding then building up from there.
College students, and high schoolers
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
The student should try to think from the teacher's perspective and imagine how they would be tested to ensure their understanding of the concepts.

My experience working with Victor was more than I can ask for. He was patient, understanding, and knowledgeable when it came to helping me with the areas I struggled most. Before I came across Victor’s tutoring service I was doing poorly in my subject. But with encouragement and guidance, Victor definitely helped improve my understanding and evidently, my grade improved. I don’t know what more I can say but thanks Victor. If you’re doubting whether to go to Victor for help, just do it. You won’t regret it.
