About Sallie
I have worked as a successful instructor and tutor for long enough to have experience identifying and tailoring lessons for students with various learning styles and academic backgrounds. I am genuine, reliable and make myself available to students even outside of sessions for issues that may come up between meetings. My students have commented that I am easy to talk to and don't pressure them or get frustrated. I believe any student is capable of learning-it is my mission to find out how they learn best and customize sessions making them most effective for the student.
I enjoy teaching and tutoring because I find it extremely rewarding. I love to watch my students gain confidence as they begin to master the material. I particularly enjoy private tutoring because I am able to devote all my attention to the student and meet their specific needs.
I hold a Master's of Science degree in Molecular Biology and have taught at the college and high school level for 10+ years. I have also successfully tutored students of all ages in various subjects (especially Math and Science).
I have a B.S. in Biology and a M.S. in Cellular and Molecular Biology. During graduate school I worked as a GTA for several undergraduate science courses including Microbiology, Physiology, Ecology, and Chemistry. I have privately tutored students of all ages in a wide variety of subjects but mostly Mathematics and Sciences. Since graduate school I have instructed high school Biology and Forensics courses, Early College Biology and Chemistry and community college level Biology.

I like to meet students prior to our first session so we can both get to know a little about each other and I can assess their academic needs and make sure I am able to assist them. I have found a brief introduction enables us to begin working immediately. The initial meeting also allows me to assess academic strengths and weaknesses so that I may tailor my instruction to best suit the student's needs.

She is always trying to find a way to accommodate your learning. She is very funny so she makes studying easier. When I didn’t understand something she would try to explain it as many ways as possible and did everything she could to make sure I understood it. Even if it’s last minute studying she will do her best and get every ounce of information into you that you can. She’s also very flexible with her times which is great if you’re working full-time and can only study or get tutoring at night.
She was very good at making sure she explained things in a way I could understand, not just reciting definitions and such.
