About Nicola
Hi, I’m Nicola. I hold a BSc (Hons) in Geology and Environmental Earth Science, an MSc in Environmental Science specialising in Atmospheric Science, Climate and Ecosystems, and I’m currently completing a PhD in Environmental Science, focusing on human impacts on rivers. Alongside my research, I serve as a Teaching Assistant, leading tutorials and labs, providing academic support, invigilating exams, and assisting with field work. I played an active teaching role during a field course to Bali, Indonesia, guiding students with intertidal coastal ecology and coral restoration, as well as ensuring their overall wellbeing, particularly during snorkelling. I also earned the University Teaching for Teaching Assistant certificate in May 2025. My teaching style is interactive, inclusive, adaptable and designed to make learning fun while also encouraging meaningful and thought-provoking discussions.

I take an engaging, student-led approach to tutoring geography and environmental science, adapting each lesson to the learner’s level, interests and academic goals. Lessons typically run for 60 minutes and combine clear explanations, visual resources, case studies, and interactive discussion to make complex topics accessible and relevant. I hold a BSc in Geology and Environmental Earth Science, an MSc in Environmental Science specialising in Atmospheric Science, Climate and Ecosystems, and I’m currently pursuing a PhD researching the impacts of human activity on rivers.
