About Jessica
I'm Jess, an MSci Psychology and Neuroscience graduate with a passion for helping students achieve their academic goals. Alongside my university studies, I gained experience tutoring students preparing for 11+ and GCSE exams, supporting them in building both their knowledge and confidence.
I understand that every student learns differently, and I enjoy finding ways to explain concepts clearly and adapt my teaching style to suit individual needs. My studies have given me a strong understanding of how people learn, remember information, and develop confidence in their abilities, which I aim to bring into every lesson.
I am friendly, patient, and approachable, and I believe that creating a positive learning environment is key to helping students succeed. Whether a student is aiming to improve their grades, prepare for an important exam, or simply gain confidence in a subject, I am committed to helping them reach their full potential.
Having successfully progressed through GCSEs, A Levels, and university study, I understand the challenges students face and can provide practical advice on revision, exam preparation, organisation, and study skills alongside subject-specific support.

My lessons are tailored to each student's individual needs, whether they require support with subject knowledge, exam technique, confidence building, or revision planning. I work closely with students to identify their strengths, areas for improvement, and learning goals, ensuring that each lesson is focused, engaging, and effective.
I believe that students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions, so I aim to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment. I break down complex topics into manageable steps, use worked examples to develop understanding, and regularly check progress through practice questions, discussion, and retrieval-based learning techniques.
A typical lesson will begin with a review of previous content and any questions the student may have. We will then focus on a specific topic or skill, working through explanations, examples, and exam-style questions together before finishing with a recap of key learning points and targets for independent study.
My academic background in psychology and neuroscience has given me a strong understanding of learning, memory, and effective revision strategies, which I incorporate into my teaching where appropriate. Having successfully completed GCSEs, A Levels, and an MSci degree, I also understand the challenges students face and can provide practical guidance on revision, organisation, and exam preparation.
My goal is not only to help students improve their grades, but also to develop the confidence, study skills, and independent learning habits that will support them throughout their education.

Lessons are tailored to the student's individual needs and can focus on subject knowledge, exam technique, revision planning, or building confidence in a particular area. Students are encouraged to bring their own schoolwork, homework, revision materials, or topics they would like support with so that lessons are directly relevant to their studies.
As lessons are delivered online, students simply need a reliable internet connection and access to any materials they would like to work through during the session. I am happy to adapt lessons to suit different learning styles, goals, and levels of experience.
