About James
I’m a working TV/film/theater actor and I’ve been teaching acting, auditioning, and public speaking since 1996. My specialty is eliminating fear and freeing the creative spirit within, all with a fun sense of humor. I have an MFA, PGD, BA, and Certificate from Drama Studio London, Cambridge, CSULA, and Kenyon, where I won the Paul Newman Award.
While a senior at Brunswick School, my teacher asked me to help a younger student and it worked well! I started teaching kids acting and improv in college, working at Camp Dudley, YMCA, whose theater program launched Burgess Meredith, Jamie Widdoes, and Rob Campbell. I directed one play, then ran the theater department 5 years later.

Perfect! This journey has been amazing. James is professional and a lot fun. James led me, a beginner, into this world of acting, with not only basic concepts but also practical tips. Whenever I have questions, I get answers. Although I started taking these lessons out of curiosity and I have never imagined myself being able to act, now I'm actually doing monologues and loving it.
Perfect! He’s an amazing teacher and makes you feel confident about yourself. Would totally recommend working with him!!

Very informative, helped me by understanding what I am capable of. Gave me clues as to what I could improve on but didn’t flat out tell me what I needed work out. Has a steady work flow during the entire process of acting, and finding the characters desires.
James coached my son for college interviews. He is expressive. He wrote down all the details and demonstrated the talking, which is helpful. He also has wonderful ideas that are motivative. We highly recommend him!
