About Ken
Been playing trumpet for 42 years. HS Band director for 27 years. Have been teaching private trumpet lessons for the last 8 years. Recently moved to teaching online only. I can share some playing techniques and insider tips to help you at any level. It could be just getting started, wanting to reach 1st chair, make an honor band, audition for a scholarship, or learn to play as an adult.
Seeing the light come on when a student finally figures it out. Watching a student not give up and overcome difficulties. These things never get old.
Have always felt called by God to teach.
BMEd, All-level Instrumental, Texas Tech. Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction, York College. Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership, York College. Currently a High School Band Director and part time Community Band Director.

Why would they like to learn? What goals are there? Help get started with proper equipment and build good habits if a beginner. If not a beginner, evaluate playing to see if I might be able to help. Answer questions.
Public school students, private school students, home schoolers, inner city school students, rural students, students with special needs, students of military parents, young adults, older adults.
Choose someone with experience.
Last year I saw a former trumpet student earn a top chair in a large honor band and also hold 1st chair in her large high school band.

If you’re an adult wanting to take lessons, Ken is your go-to. I started taking trumpet lessons when I was in my late 30s. It’s never too late to start and having an instructor that tailors lessons to the student is critical. Ken excels at understanding the needs of the student, reviewing strengths and doubling down on improving weaknesses.
Ken was great at encouraging my daughter. He helped her work through her anxiety playing in front of others and playing with braces!
